Essay: Social Media Impacts on Teens

Social Media Impacts on Teens

By Maxim and Profitta

Social media has changed the way we interact with the world outside. From being confined by the restriction of time and distances to being able to communicate instantly to one another. This changes the way we teens interact with our friends. Back then we were only able to communicate when we were at school or at a gathering, but now we can “see” each other anytime

Of course this has many benefits. For example we can see our friends even if we or them are sick so that we don’t spread the disease. We also can see what our friend is doing right there and then, maybe we can feel like we participated in their holiday. We can keep up with the trends and talk about it with our friends.

On the other hand, social media can cause addiction to the users. Using social media can influence our brain in harmful ways. We may use social media compulsively and excessively. It's like we cannot live without social media. Social media also can lead us to isolation because the interaction in social networks with other people has become effortless and people have isolated their lives behind their lives identities. Sometimes social media can affect our productivity. For example, at this time we use the internet to study, but sometimes when our friends posts something on social media it makes us distracted from studying.

So in conclusion social media has a big impact on teens. It has its benefits and disadvantages, so as teens we need to be smart and should be wary of social media so that we can take the positive side of it and leave behind the negative things.
